Answer the Phone Like Buddy the Elf Day

The comedy Christmas movie Elf, directed by Jon Favreau, was released in 2003. It focuses on Buddy, played by Will Ferrell, a human who grew up as one of Santa's elves after crawling into Santa's presents sack while at an orphanage as a child. As an adult, Buddy travels to New York City to meet his father, played by James Caan. He comes across Christmas cynics everywhere he turns and works to bring them holiday cheer. In one scene, Buddy answers his father's phone and says, "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" This memorable scene was the inspiration for Answer the Phone Like Buddy the Elf Day. The holiday has been celebrated since at least 2008, five years after the movie was released. Elf ranks high on lists of the greatest Christmas movies of all time and is especially known as one of the best Christmas films of the twenty-first century.

How to Observe Answer the Phone Like Buddy the Elf Day

Answer the phone today by saying, "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" You should do this everywhere, whether you are at home, at a friend's house, or at work. You could even answer other people's phones in this manner, just as Buddy did. As the holidays are approaching, this is also a good day to watch Elf. It is sometimes shown in theaters during this time of year, so you could check to see if it is playing nearby as well.
