Created by Traveler Beer Company, a craft brewery that was located in Burlington, Vermont, that has since been bought out by the Boston Beer Company, National Refreshment Day highlights the refreshing flavors of summer, particularly beer. Beers and other beverages are enjoyed, and so are other refreshing activities. Traveler Beer Company wrote of the day:
When the days are long and the sun is hot, We, the People, deserve a day to relish in refreshment. So turn the fan on high, grab your bathing suit and ice down the beer. Let's make the most of the dog days and raise a glass to National Refreshment!
How to Observe National Refreshment Day
There are many ways you can refresh yourself on a hot summer day: turn on the air conditioner or a fan, jump in a lake or pool, run through the sprinkler, eat some ice cream, or have an ice-cold drink. National Refreshment Day is especially about drinking cool beverages, particularly ice-cold beer. Besides celebrating by drinking some cold ones, suggestions have been made to post on social media with the hashtag #NationalRefreshmentDay, to give a shout-out to a favorite brewery or craft beer, and to thank servers for their dedication and to buy them a refreshing beverage.
