"Show your appreciation to your webmaster by taking him out for some good food. That way, he/she/it will feel loved and have the energy to fix all of the typos on your site." That's how Thomas and Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holidays describe Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day, a holiday they created.
What do these masters of the web do? Webmasters improve and optimize current websites or build and maintain new ones. Some of their duties may include making sure that web servers, hardware, and software are properly operating; examining website traffic; responding to user comments; and A/B testing. They need to know markup languages like HTML, and might also need to know scripting languages. They also need to understand how web servers and search engine optimization work, should be versed in graphic design, and have basic writing skills.
How to Observe Take Your Webmaster to Lunch Day
With all the work that webmasters do, they are bound to be hungry quite often. If you have a webmaster, take them out to lunch and put their meal on your tab. Don't have a webmaster? It's a great day to get one! If you are a webmaster, there is no shame in letting others know what day it is. You deserve some lunch for all your hard work!
