Global Day of Parents

On September 17, 2012, the UN General Assembly proclaimed that Global Day of Parents would be held on June 1st each year. This day was made to honor parents throughout the world for their commitment to children.

How to Observe Global Day of Parents

This day gives us the opportunity to appreciate parents around the world in various ways. Time could be taken to call or visit your parents or do something special for them. If they are no longer living the day could be taken to reflect on what they meant to you, or their gravesite could be visited. Readings about different traditions of parenting around the world could be done. Films that examine parent-child relationships could be watched and discussed.
