Bringing together the salty with the sweet, being made of peanuts covered in melted chocolate, peanut clusters are celebrated and enjoyed today on National Peanut Cluster Day. They can be made in a few minutes time, by melting chocolate and stirring in peanuts to form clusters, and are then left to harden. Semisweet or milk chocolate chips are commonly used, and other sweet ingredients such as butterscotch or caramel may be added. The first retail peanut clusters were Goo Goo Clusters. Hitting shelves in 1912, they consisted of chocolate and peanuts made with caramel and marshmallows. They are still made today, as are other brands, like Whitley's Peanut Clusters. Whether made at home or purchased at a store, peanut clusters are enjoyed today!
How to Observe National Peanut Cluster Day
Indulge in the day and make yourself some peanut clusters! You could buy some too, at a local confectionery store or from a company like Goo Goo or Whitley's.
