National Sweater Day is a campaign for energy conservation created by the World Wildlife Fund Canada. Canadians are encouraged to lower their thermostats and put on sweaters to help fight climate change. Efforts are made to protect the environment by limiting global temperature rise. Individuals, communities, schools, and businesses come together to show their commitment to lower energy use, to fight climate change, and to call for politicians to take action.
How to Observe National Sweater Day (Canada)
Just because you might not live in Canada, it doesn't mean you can't participate! While the day is called National Sweater Day, turning down the thermostat is the most important component of the day. After turning it down a few degrees, put on your favorite sweater! You could upload a selfie of yourself donning your sweater to social media. If you are celebrating in a school or workplace, take part in or organize a sweater contest. If you are participating in a school, register your classroom online and check the related webpage for other ideas on how your students can engage with the day. If celebrating at home, host a sweater party with friends and family. The more people you join together, the more you'll be able to lower your thermostat! Make sure to follow World Wildlife Fund Canada on Facebook and Instagram and check their website.
