According to Ruth and Thomas Roy of Wellcat Holidays, who created Remember Freedom Day, the day is "a reminder to all that freedom never comes cheaply. Study it, preserve it, and pass it on." It's no surprise that such a day takes place on September 11, the date of the worst terrorist attack on the United States, an event that spurred the country to collectively reflect on what freedom means and how to preserve it. Remember Freedom Day joins other holidays on September 11 with similar sentiments, such as National Day of Service and Remembrance and Patriot Day.
