Women's Healthy Weight Day, which is part of Healthy Weight Week, honors women of all sizes and pushes back against the media's overemphasis on thinness. It's a day of body positivity for women, celebrating and accepting all body appearances since everyone is a different size and shape and has a different set of genetics. Women's Healthy Weight Day focuses on healthy living and improving overall health with activities like healthy eating and physical activity while turning away from dieting. The day was created by Francie Berg through her organization the Healthy Weight Network.
How to Observe Women's Healthy Weight Day
Steps can be taken not just today, but on all days, to fulfill the goals of Women's Healthy Weight Day. Focus on keeping your body healthy, not on what your weight is. Have a positive mindset about your weight, and don't compare it to that of others. Be accepting of your weight and of everyone else's. Instead of counting calories, eat more fruits and vegetables and exercise at least 30 minutes a day. If you are not a woman, encourage and support the women in your life.
