Alien Day
The Alien film franchise is celebrated today. The original film in the series, Alien, was released in 1979. Ridley Scott directed it and it starred Sigourney Weaver. Sequels and prequels followed. Alien Day is organized and promoted by 20th Century Studios. It was first held in 2016, during the 30th anniversary year of the Alien sequel Aliens. Various events have been held on Alien Day. There have been Alien film screenings, fan art contests, trivia contests, and live streaming events. Comic books, video games, clothing, collectibles, novels, and other Alien-related items have been released. Alien Day is held on April 26 because one of the planetoids or moons in the Alien films is named LV-426.
