Hufflepuff Pride Day
Hufflepuff, one of the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter franchise is celebrated today with Hufflepuff Pride Day, on the first day of Hogwarts House Pride Week, which takes place during Hogwarts House Pride Month. The Hufflepuff house was founded by Helga Hufflepuff, a medieval witch. The house corresponds with the element of earth, and its colors are yellow and black, representing wheat and soil. The house animal is the badger. Because of their association with the earth, Hufflepuffs tend to be gifted in herbology. Hufflepuff is the most inclusive of the houses, and the least competitive. Hufflepuffs are honest, friendly, dedicated, and modest, and the house values hard work, patience, fair play, and loyalty, instead of solely the aptitude of its members.
Pomona Sprout, an herbology professor at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is the Head Hufflepuff. Fat Friar is the house's patron ghost. The Hufflepuff common room and dormitories are never seen by outsiders. The common room is the only one of the four houses with devices to turn away intruders. It can be accessed through a series of barrels. A certain barrel is tapped a specific number of times, to the rhythm of the words "Helga Hufflepuff." Inside it is large, sunny, cozy, and earthy, with plants hanging about. The dormitories can be accessed through big round doors on the walls of the room.
