National Chicken Parmesan Day

National Chicken Parmesan Day celebrates the beloved chicken Parmesan entrée and takes place annually on April 19. Romano’s Macaroni Grill declared the observance in 2017 to coincide with the restaurant’s birthday. According to the company’s announcement, founder Phil Romano wrote the original recipe book for the first Macaroni Grill location on April 19, 1988, and chicken Parmesan has been one of the restaurant’s favorite entrées since then. The announcement described the restaurant’s signature version as hand-pounded chicken breast coated in a Milanese-style breadcrumb-and-Parmesan mixture, topped with Pomodorina sauce and Buffalo mozzarella, and served with capellini. The recipe was inspired by Southern Italian regions including Campania and Sicily.
