National Fruit at Work Day celebrates fresh fruit as a snack during the workday and encourages healthier choices in the workplace. It is observed on the first Tuesday in October.
The FruitGuys, a company that began delivering fresh fruit to San Francisco offices in 1998, announced the creation of National Fruit at Work Day on September 24, 2015, for its first observance on October 6 of that year. According to the company’s announcement, the day was created to celebrate healthy workplace snacking and “honor the food that successfully fuels a busy day.” The FruitGuys’ later description likewise presents the observance as a way to promote the health and productivity benefits of eating whole fresh fruit during the workday.
How to Observe National Fruit at Work Day
Celebrate by bringing fruit to work and sharing it with coworkers. Apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, mangoes, kiwis, pears, and peaches are among the fruits suggested in The FruitGuys’ celebration guide. You could also arrange a fruit tasting, add fruit to a workplace breakfast or snack table, or learn more about the benefits of making fresh fruit part of your workday.
