Small Brewery Sunday

Small Brewery Sunday celebrates small and independent U.S. craft breweries and encourages beer lovers to support them during the busy shopping weekend after Thanksgiving. The holiday also highlights the Brewers Association’s independent craft brewer seal, a certified mark that identifies beer brewed by independent brewers. The Brewers Association’s announcement says the celebration takes place on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

The Brewers Association created Small Brewery Sunday in 2019, with its inaugural observance held on December 1. The holiday encourages people to visit or otherwise support local breweries, brewpubs, and taprooms, recognizing their role as small businesses and community gathering places. A 2020 announcement describes the holiday as a way to support local breweries throughout the holiday season and beyond.

How to Observe Small Brewery Sunday

Celebrate by visiting a local independent brewery, taproom, or brewpub, or by choosing its beer from a store or restaurant. Look for the independent craft brewer seal when selecting a beer, and consider supporting a brewery through takeout, delivery, or another available option. You can also share your Small Brewery Sunday experience using #SmallBrewerySunday and #SeekTheSeal, as suggested by the Brewers Association’s 2020 announcement.
